Statues in remberance of the once Slave Market in Zanzibar, which was the primary site from which slaves were taken in eastern Africa. Nearby was the actual holding quarters where they were held. A catholic church was built over where the auction area was. After slavery was abolished, they moved the market 30 minutes north to operate out of a cave until that was discovered and closed down.
